Learners in this 21st century face an ever-changing world in which the mere accumulation of academic content will not prepare them adequately for life’s challenges. They need to adeptly use skills acquired to turn available information into useful knowledge to meet these challenges.

The educators’ role is thus, to impart in learners, the ability to contextually link the roles played by science to our environment, society and daily life, so as to establish its relevance and value.

As the saying goes, “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand.”

This adage sends a strong message to educators that there must be a paradigm shift in the way science is taught and learnt.

Teaching science has always been a challenge to many educators. The delivery of an effective science lesson not only requires one to have a strong foundation in the knowledge and concepts of every topic in the subject matter, but also to have a knack for engaging, exciting and inspiring learning in the classroom.

Vitamindz™ Education is a premier science enrichment centre that focuses on delivering the best learning experience for every student through the use of our unique teaching pedagogies combined with effective techniques with novel resources and embracing technology to excite, engage and inspire students in the mastery of science.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated team of trainers and staff for the commitment shown to all our parents and students and for constantly walking the extra mile to make the learning of science a most memorable experience for our young chargers and leaders of tomorrow.

Shalom,

Our Trainers

“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.”
– Mark Van Doren

Alex Su

Alex graduated from National University of Singapore (Life Sciences) and had done research work under the tutelage of a professor.

After completing the National Institute of Education (PGDE) programme, he joined the Ministry of Education, teaching upper primary science for more than 7 years. He was also involved in marking PSLE Science papers every year.

Alex is passionate in making the learning of science fun and engaging. He believes that every child can succeed in the mastery of science if they can build positive learning habits of mind.

Lynn Neo

Lynn graduated from the National University of Singapore (Arts and Social Sciences). After completing the National Institute of Education (PGDE) programme, she joined the Ministry of Education and taught for 18 years. She was also involved in marking PSLE papers and was a cooperating teacher to guide and mentor NIE trainee teachers attached to her previous school.

Lynn believes that every child is capable of learning. However, as each child is unique, the pace at which every child learns is different. Thus, it is her prerogative to deliver lessons such that all students in the class can easily understand even complex science concepts. Together with consistent good study habits inculcated and deliberate practice in using techniques taught to them, the mastery of science is within reach.

Pang Hwee Joo

Hwee Joo graduated from the Institute of Education and has taught in the Ministry of Education for more than 30 years, with 20 years as Head of Department. In 2003, he was presented the Commendation Medal at the National Day Honours Award.

Hwee Joo believes that there is great potential in every child, which sometimes, remains untapped and as educators, the onus is on us to create the space, excite learning and inspire our learners such that they have a chance to perform at their highest and unleash this potential.

Eliza Yang

After completing the Diploma in Education programme with the National Institute of Education, Eliza went on to join the Ministry of Education, teaching upper primary science for 10 years in one of the top primary schools in Singapore. She was also involved in marking PSLE science papers every year.

During her service, not only did she take precious time to complete her bachelor’s degree but also took charge and planned programs such as the ‘E2k’ and ‘IVP’ that empower students to connect science to their everyday lives and the natural phenomenon around them. For her dedication, commitment, and student-centric teaching approaches, she was awarded the ‘Caring Teacher’ Award by the Ministry of Education.

Eliza believes in engaging the hearts of each student before engaging their minds. In her lessons, she balances what students want to know with what students need to know, opening pathways for them to enjoy learning science and see relevance and meaning in what they learn.
